HeroCalm Vest Size Guide: How to Measure Your Dog

HeroCalm Vest Size Guide: How to Measure Your Dog

How do you choose a HeroCalm Comfort Vest size? Measure your dog while standing, then compare the measurements with the supplier size chart in the HeroCalm Comfort Vest product gallery. HeroCalm is offered in S, M, L and XL. Do not choose a size from breed, weight or a generic dog-clothing chart alone.

A size called “medium” is not consistent across brands. The supplier chart for the vest you are ordering is the reference—not measurements borrowed from another product.

What you need before measuring

  • A flexible measuring tape, or string measured against a ruler.
  • Your dog standing naturally on a non-slip surface.
  • A helper or a few suitable treats, if useful.
  • A place to record measurements and the units used.

Keep the session relaxed. Take a break if your dog is uncomfortable being measured.

Measure chest, neck and back

  1. Chest circumference: measure around the widest part of the ribcage behind the front legs. Keep the tape level and avoid compressing the body.
  2. Neck circumference: measure where the product chart indicates the neck opening sits. Do not automatically substitute the collar size.
  3. Back length: measure along the back from the base of the neck toward the base of the tail, checking the chart's illustrated start and end points.
  4. Repeat: take each measurement again and record it in centimetres or inches consistently.

Do not add an arbitrary allowance unless the supplier chart instructs you to. Measure the dog, not an existing garment laid flat.

Use the official product chart

Open the size-chart image in the HeroCalm Comfort Vest gallery and compare every measurement it lists. We have deliberately not included a generic numerical chart here: an inaccurate range can produce the wrong fit.

If measurements fall between sizes or disagree across columns, contact HoomanHero through the store's Help menu before ordering. Include chest, neck and back measurements and the colour you want. Do not automatically size down to create pressure or size up for growing room.

Check the fit before everyday use

  • Your dog should breathe normally and move freely.
  • Check for rubbing around the front legs and pressure near the neck.
  • Watch them stand, walk, sit and lie down.
  • The vest should not twist, slide off or require force to fasten.
  • Remove it if your dog freezes, repeatedly tries to remove it, overheats or shows discomfort.

A finger-clearance check alone cannot prove that a garment fits safely. Follow the supplied fitting instructions and observe your dog's movement and comfort. Begin with a short supervised introduction; do not force a fixed wearing duration.

Size and fit FAQ

Can I use breed or weight to pick a size?

Use measurements. Dogs of the same breed or weight can have different proportions.

Can my dog wear it with a harness?

Check both manufacturers' instructions. Layering can change fit. HeroCalm is not a leash attachment point or vehicle restraint, and compatibility with a crash-tested harness should not be assumed.

When should I measure again?

Recheck after growth, weight changes or whenever the fit changes. Inspect fit each time you put the vest on.

Does the Kit use the same vest sizing?

The Hero Calm Kit includes a HeroCalm vest. Use the vest's supplier chart when choosing the Kit's size and colour.

Choose comfort, not extra tightness

A comfort vest is optional. Introduce it during a relaxed, supervised session and remove it if your dog seems uncomfortable. Evidence for pressure wraps is limited; a vest is not a treatment for severe anxiety or a substitute for veterinary care.
